The Codex Gigas, also known as the Devil's Bible, is famous for two reasons: it is believed to be the world's largest preserved medieval manuscript (Codex Gigas means "giant book") and it contains a large, full-page portrait of the Devil. At 165 pounds, and allegedly made from the skins of 160 donkeys, the Codex Gigas is the world's largest and most mysterious medieval manuscript. It is unclear exactly how the medieval manuscript came about. But we know that it was written in the Kingdom of Bohemia sometime between 1204 and 1230.
